Welcome parents and potential students. This page will help you get your student registered for new lessons. The lessons that we have available are divided into two types of lessons: group and private.
Please review our lesson policies here:
Group lessons come in different types and are designed for different types of student.
The first group lesson is the Stringed Instrument Workshop. The SIW is basically an overview course that lasts for 10 weeks. It costs $10 per hour. There is something for every level of skill in the SIW. We have had students from 10 all the way up to 65 in the SIW. Students will learn the basics of how stringed instruments work (guitar, bass, mandolin, ukulele, banjo, fiddle), and will be able to play simple songs in open tunings on their instrument by the end of the course.
The second group lesson is designed for churches and is called 123 Worship Workshop. This course is designed as a three week course, $25 per hour per student, to help develop praise bands for churches. There is a piano session, a stringed session and a worship overview session. We not only discuss the fundamentals of playing as a band, but we also delve into the theology of worship.
We also offer a group Harmonica Workshop for people who want to play an instrument but are not sure how to start. The harmonica workshop follows a similar format as the Stringed Instrument Workshop, but is geared towards harmonicas!
In addition we also offer a Hand Drum and Drums of the World Workshop which is also a 10 week course focusing on different hand drums and rhythmic techniques around the world. This is a great class for students of any instrument to beef up their rhythmic techniques, as well as learn about other types of music around the world.
Private Lessons are another option for lessons, and they run $25 for a half hour lesson. Private lessons are geared for the more serious music student, the one who has decided playing an instrument is something they definitely want to pursue. In private lessons, the student will learn all the rudiments of the instrument and then will progress onto a greater depth of musical knowledge. We will focus on three major areas of musical education: technique, theory and ear training.
Most parents typically book their student for one half hour lesson each week. The lessons are designed around the music that you wish to learn. Before you decide to take lessons, as a parent, I would advise reading this wonderful article about the realities of learning music: The Truth About Music Lessons. In this article the author discusses the hectic schedule of most modern parents, and the realities of learning to play an instrument well. Please give this some consideration when you sign up for music lessons. Lessons are scheduled at a set time each week, and each student is required to practice a minimum of 20 minutes a day. Rescheduling is discouraged, as much as possible, due to the fact that rescheduling for one parent affects the schedules of all the other parents on the roster.
We also offer the incredibly popular "Why Did My Mom Let Me Quit!?!" lessons. Perhaps you are one of the many adults who took some lessons as a child, then got frustrated and quit. The "Why Did My Mom Let Me Quit" lessons are designed for you! These lessons are a short 5 week course designed to get you up and running on your instrument of choice. The classes are one hour long at $50 each lesson. This is a great investment into learning how to play your instrument. By the end of the five weeks, you will learn how to tune your instrument, how to play several chords that will allow you to learn songs, how to read TAB or basic sheet music, you will understand how songs work, and you will learn a lot of basic licks and fills to get you back on track playing your instrument! But most importantly, you will learn how to play several songs that will give you confidence again on the instrument of your choice.
There is a $10 registration fee when signing up, and we will process your registration and get back to you as soon as possible to set up a time for your lesson!
Please fill out the form below, and in the instrument window, please let us know what instrument and type of lesson you prefer!
